Topic A: Climate Change and Its Impact on Global Food Security.

Climate change poses one of the greatest challenges to global food systems, threatening water availability, agricultural productivity, and ecosystem stability. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and changing rainfall patterns have made it increasingly difficult for farmers to sustain their livelihoods and for nations to guarantee access to affordable and nutritious food.

This topic calls for international cooperation to confront these threats that eventually will affect us all.

How can nations effectively combat climate change to ensure global food security and protect the right to safe and sufficient food for all?

Topic B: Addressing Global Food Waste and Its Impact on World Hunger

In today’s world, abundance and hunger coexist side by side. While millions of tons of food are wasted each year, millions of people continue to suffer from malnutrition and food insecurity. For many food industries, waste is often ignored, as it does not directly affect their economic profits. However, this excess represents a vital resource that could change the lives of those in need.

This topic encourages nations to analyze how economic interests and humanitarian responsibilities can coexist in a sustainable and ethical way.

How can nations find a sustainable balance between the profits of the food industry and the ethical responsibility to reduce global hunger and food waste?

Topic A: Addressing Systemic Barriers to the Political Participation of Indigenous, Ethnic, and Marginalized Women.

Throughout the world, women from indigenous, ethnic, and marginalized communities continue to face structural obstacles that limit their participation in political and decision making processes. These barriers are often based on discrimination, economic inequality, and limited access to education and representation.

This topic seeks to explore strategies to ensure that all women, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic background, can fully exercise their political rights. Possible measures include reforms, education, and mechanisms to promote inclusion in leadership and policymaking.

How can nations empower marginalized women to participate equally in political life and shape the future of their communities?

Topic B: Women’s Right to Express Their Cultural and Religious Identity Across Borders.

In an increasingly interconnected world, many women continue to face discrimination and restrictions when expressing their cultural or religious identity beyond their home countries. Issues such as xenophobia, clothing bans, and cultural prejudice often limit their freedom and participation in public life.

This topic aims to promote dialogue on how to ensure respect for diversity and inclusion, while safeguarding women’s fundamental rights regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or religion.

How can nations guarantee that women’s cultural and religious identities are respected and protected across borders, without compromising their human rights?

The brothers Karl and Walter LaGrand

The LaGrand Brothers case (Germany vs. United States of America, 1999) focused on the interpretation and application of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. The issue arose after two German nationals were sentenced to death in the United States without being informed of their right to contact their consulate, as established by Article 36 of the Convention. Germany filed the case before the International Court of Justice, claiming that this omission constituted a breach of international obligations.

This case raised important questions about the balance between domestic legal procedures and international treaty commitments. It also brought attention to how states should interpret and apply consular notification rights in cases involving foreign nationals. The ICJ’s decision contributed to the ongoing discussion on the relationship between international law and national sovereignty.

How can nations ensure compliance with international treaties while maintaining the integrity of their domestic legal systems?

Topic A: Ensuring Children’s Right to Access Natural, Recreational, and Cultural Spaces.

Around the world, millions of children grow up without access to safe parks, playgrounds, or cultural spaces where they can learn, play, and express themselves freely. Urban expansion, insecurity, poverty, and lack of investment in child friendly infrastructure have restricted these essential spaces, especially in marginalized communities.

This topic seeks to explore policies and initiatives that guarantee every child, regardless of their background, can safely enjoy and benefit from nature, play, and culture.

How can governments and organizations ensure that all children grow up in environments that nurture their creativity, well being, and connection to their culture and surroundings?

Topic A: Artificial Intelligence vs. Environmental Sustainability

Artificial Intelligence has become a key tool for innovation and development, but its rapid expansion also raises environmental concerns. The production and operation of AI systems demand large amounts of energy and water, contributing to carbon emissions and environmental degradation.

At the same time, AI can be used to support sustainability by improving energy efficiency, optimizing waste management, and monitoring climate change. This topic aims to explore how governments and companies can balance technological progress with environmental responsibility.

How can nations and industries ensure that Artificial Intelligence contributes to sustainability instead of accelerating environmental damage?

Topic B: Addressing the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Employment and Human Labor Markets

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence is transforming the global workforce. Automation and advanced algorithms are increasing productivity but also replacing many traditional jobs, creating uncertainty in employment stability and widening inequality between skilled and unskilled workers.

This topic aims to examine how governments, companies, and international organizations can adapt labor markets to this new reality.

How can nations balance technological innovation with the protection of workers’ rights and long term employment opportunities?
